Hi, I'm Sarah.

We have five kids — ages 4 through 14 — and a house in Nashville that I've been organizing, lighting, and redesigning around them since our oldest was born. Twelve years of family home experience, three full renovations, and more lighting fixtures than I care to admit.

I spent eight years teaching elementary school before our fourth kid arrived and I transitioned to being home full-time. The organizational skills I developed for a classroom of 25 kids turned out to be directly applicable to a household of seven. Everything on this blog is something I use, have used, or have abandoned after testing.

Our house is real. It has crayon on the walls in the mudroom and a dent in the playroom ceiling from a toy that shall not be named. The systems I write about work in real family life — not in a styled photo shoot.
